#4

After choosing your venue, the next step is to decide on a theme! There are several considerations you will have to make before deciding on one e.g. Are your guests gonna find it difficult to get the necessary costume/outfit? Are the decorations going to be difficult to prepare? Is it going to be costly? If you're stuck and you do not know what theme to have, just read on and you might find the inspiration you need!

COLOURS

A colour coded theme is aways the easiest! It gives your guests more freedom in terms of their attire, and you have more freedom in designing your decorations too. Try to have a combination of colours, otherwise a single coloured theme alone would be too boring!

MONOCHROME

Some people say that a monochrome theme is not suitable for a party because it's like attending a funeral. But hey, does the picture below look like a funeral to you? It really depends on how you go about designing your decorations. You can even add a little silver or gold here and there to give it a classier look.

PURPLE/BLUE

This is one of the more common theme nowadays. It also gives off a 'mermaid' feel, so those who're holding a party for your daughters can consider this colour combination! You don't have to follow this exact shade of purple and blue in the picture below. You might want to consider having it in a lighter shade, that is light purple and light blue, which will give you a totally different feel!

PINK/GOLD

This has got to be my favourite colour combination. For those who are going for a more 'princess' or 'girly' feel, this is for you! I would have chosen this Pink/Gold theme for my own 21st party but I clearly do not fit in the girly princess category, sigh. Do bear in mind that gold items for decorations are not as easy to find as the usual colours!

TIFFANY/WHITE

A really sweet colour combination for all you Tiffany & Co. lovers out there! You can even throw in a little bit of black to make it stand out more. The Tiffany theme is getting increasingly popular with young girls these days. There are a few party shops along Middle Road that sell Tiffany coloured balloons. You might wanna check this shop out! It's just right beside Bugis Plus.

ANIMALS

SAFARI

PARTY ANIMALS. The little ones will love this, because it's like you're bringing the jungle right to the kids. Or you could actually even consider having it at the zoo! Just check out this link http://www.zoo.com.sg/visitor-info/birthday-special.html Allow your guests to be creative with their costumes and you'll surprised at the different types of animal costumes people can come up with! You can even consider preparing animal masks for your guests and allow your guests to bring their pets.

BIRDIE

Cheep Cheep! This theme is so cute that I've decided that my future daughter's 1 year old birthday party will be a bird themed one. However, I must say that the decorations for a birdie themed party aren't easy to DIY. You'll require a whole lot of patience moulding the birds, making the bird houses etc.

JERSEY

If you're an avid sports lover, why not have a jersey themed party? The greatest advantage of having a jersey themed party is that yourself and your guests will get to wear their favourite jerseys and jerseys are super comfortable. I attended a jersey themed party once and I enjoyed it so much because I wasn't expected to dress up. All I had to do was search my cupboard for a jersey. Thank goodness I could still fit into my Junior College's soccer jersey!

NAUTICAL

If you're having a pool or yacht, there is no other theme you should consider other than this! I love how you can go crazy and creative with the decorations for the nautical theme. You'll be amazed at how many different kinds of DIY decorations you could make with just three colours and one pattern (Basically the nautical theme consists of a lot of blue, red and white stripes)

HAWAIIAN

Aloha! Some Hawaiian Pizza for you? Bring your guests on an make believe get away to Hawaii. Though a fun theme to have, a lot of work has to be done to prepare for the party. It's either you go big or go home for this theme. Either you make the place look as Hawaiian as possible, or you end up with a failed Hawaiian party
